We've come a long way!
Listen to this Insight

I know there's a lot that must be done to end some of the ridiculous customs around the world. However, I'm here to celebrate how far we've come.

When I was much younger, I remember hearing that those who were left-handed were at a disadvantage, and they somehow had the gift of slapping very well!

My younger cousin was occasionally punished for using her left hand. The poor girl saw shege growing up. Thank God for liberation through information. The cool thing is that she can use both of her hands now. That means she could easily become part of a circus! Ignore the last statement.

The same thing goes with the killing of twins, which was stopped some decades back.

Imagine if it hadn't stopped, we wouldn't have seen the likes of Rafael and Fabio (former Manchester United players) on the field of play.

Although slavery is still practiced in some corners of the world, I'm happy it is barely heard of.

Now, I must point out some issues in society (not all societies though) that we must collectively work on to make the world a better place.

These issues include but are not limited to rape, early child marriage, child labour, child trafficking , discrimination against women, religious extremism, ethnic divides, etc.

These aren't all the issues in the world and they may not be ranked as the most prevalent, but they have a cultural endorsement which makes them difficult to break.

Well, you can add other issues to the list, but make sure in your little way you contribute to ending them.

That said, I think it's okay to celebrate little wins as we press on to greater heights.

Remember, you have a part to play in making the world a better place.

Learn Unlearn Relearn
