Listen to this Insight

This morning, I went to buy just Akara, but I ended up buying Akara, bread, and Ogi. Here's the point: the lady selling Akara equally sells Ogi. The vendor selling bread only kept her stock beside the Akara spot. On Wednesday, I bought bottled water beside a construction site on my street. There were 2 vendors, one selling ewagoin and bread and the other selling water and drinks. Sometimes the best way to scale is to partner with someone else. The bread vendor will definitely gain traction by positioning herself next to the Akara seller. This makes a lot of sense because akara and bread are a great mix.

Sometimes we struggle to grow in our respective fields because we want to do things by ourselves. I understand the fear that your idea can be stolen by someone with better capital and great execution skills, but that should not stop you from partnering for growth. If partnerships weren't important, Instagram wouldn't have the collaboration feature.

It's wise to find those doing something in your niche and reach a mutually beneficial agreement. The truth is that there are instances where you would not gain as much as your partner, but it is still worth it. Some of us are just too proud to partner with others. Well, pride goes before a fall. I'm sure you've seen a Pepsi advertisement with Messi. Both parties will benefit. The company is basically plugging into the fan base of Messi, who I believe are mainly young and energetic people.

Don't overwhelm yourself with the mindset that you must have a big budget before you can gain more visibility. Sometimes our shine is tied to other people. Collaboration is so underrated, but it's a good avenue to scale. Your music Goats equally have features on their albums. The Odogwu himself, Oluwa Burna, was recently featured on the remix of Tshwala Bam. Posting articles on TwoCents has given me more visibility and I don't necessarily have to build my own blog or website. On the other hand it equally benefits TwoCents in terms on website Traffic.

Please be very careful and intentional when entering into a partnership. If your goals don't align, you can leave. Collaboration shouldn't be a death sentence.

Be wise!

Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much. "Helen Keller"
