Jungle Justice
Listen to this Insight
A few days ago, I witnessed two people fighting. In the space of 5 minutes, there were over a hundred people gathered. The next thing I saw was one of the warriors beating the other warrior with a big rod. Consequently, some onlookers joined in beating one of the warriors! To date, I haven't gotten the full gist of what really happened. The painful part is that the armed policemen were approximately 10 ft from the scene. Well, they were busy extorting commuters. I guess every day is payday for them! What exactly is justice? Who deserves justice? How much is justice? The streets have always been brutal, but for how long? Those who should secure their lives even at the cost of their lives are only concerned about themselves. Should we blame them for switching to survival mode? Besides, we're living in a jungle, and only the strongest survive. It's sad that we have all become judges and our courts are as mobile as we are, meaning we can enforce judgments anywhere. This is undoubtedly wrong. I wish I could blame someone, but all I did was watch when the warriors were fighting. What could I have done? Maybe that's part of the problem; the fear of being maimed is the beginning of wisdom. Now I can imagine myself standing on a car in the midst of the chaos and giving an inspiring speech that would have changed the direction of the event. I may have been slapped by the agberos, but it would have been a great moment! I hope this jungle becomes a garden someday and sanity is restored. Till then, let's contribute to change one way or another. Remember, justice is not restoration. Learn Unlearn Relearn
